The Community Works and Services Plan allocates more than 245,000 euros in the municipality of Ceutí for works to extend the cycle path, construction of a playground, renovation of street lighting and paving of sidewalks.

The Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, along with the mayor of Ceuta, Juan Felipe Cano, visited the projects underway today and stressed that "the regional government, through the Works and Services Plan, seeks collaboration with municipalities of less than 50,000 inhabitants to reduce the deficit they have in infrastructures and basic equipment, in this way, the municipalities of the Region can carry out actions that without this support would be very difficult to carry out ".

Specifically, the actions of the Works and Services Plan of 2017, which are to begin, represent an investment for the municipality of 143,820 euros, of which 115,009 euros are contributed by the Community and 28,811 euros by the City Council, and include the renovation of public lighting in green areas and bike path, and the construction of a playground on the Los Torraos plateau.

The projects were chosen through a citizen consultation, one of the objectives of the participatory budgets in which the Community is a pioneer at the national level.

Thus, among the seven actions that were chosen from the Works and Services Plan, three were the proposals chosen by the residents of the municipality that are included in the current project.

The works consist of the improvement of the technical and sports facilities in the bike path and the pedestrian path, which currently has poor lighting;

the installation of sport equipment type 'work out' along the itinerary and the improvement of the energetic efficiency of the public lighting in several five squares and a park, with the replacement of the current lights by equipment of led technology, much more efficient and that suppose an important energetic saving.

Finally, in the area of Los Torraos, a new area for children's park will be built as well as the installation of several gerontogimnasia equipment so that older people can exercise.

The Works and Services Plan for 2017, which is destined for the 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, contemplates a global investment of more than 7.8 million euros, of which six are paid by the Community to carry out 65 works in municipalities.

Extension of the bike lane

In addition, within the budget that the Plan of Works and Services of 2016 destines to Ceutí is the extension of the cycle path and paving of sidewalks with an investment of 102,628 euros (96,350 contributed by the Community and the rest by the City Council).

These works are in the process of completion.

Carrillo noted that "the Works and Services Plan has allowed in the last three years the comprehensive renovation of numerous streets of the municipality as well as the extension of its bike lane, which is of vital importance to improve the accessibility and mobility of the residents of Ceutí" .

The main purpose of this action has been to interconnect the centers for early childhood and primary education that are located in the urban area of the town through the existing bike lane, and thus encourage the movement of students to schools on foot and cycling.

In addition, existing pavements have been paved in Eduardo Otero street, until its intersection with Rambla Avenue, a road through which many people pass daily, since it is one of the main axes of the population.
