Culture The Cannery opens with three simultaneous reference to this space in contemporary art exhibitions (07/10/2014)

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities today introduced three exhibitions that from Thursday opens the reference space for contemporary art The Cannery, which brings together works by artists from around the world in different specialties and formats, from installations, video creations, painting, photography, sculpture or waterfall of marble dust.

The Minister Pedro Antonio Sánchez today visited the assembly work being done by Commissioners selected in an international competition whose jury was made up of the director of the Reina Sofia Museum, Manuel Borja-Villel, art critic Laura Revuelta and gallery director Minimum Space, José Martínez Calvo.

"They all belong to a new generation of curators who innovate in their projects and make attractive proposals for public gathering ideas about the works of emerging or established artists," said the head of Culture.

Specifically, Avelino Salas presents 'Blockhouse', '13 'is the proposal of Isabel Martínez Abascal, and' Object Structure Matter ... .Acción !, of Juan Luis Toboso.

In addition and as a complement to the exhibitions themselves and with the intention that the public can enjoy and understand more contemporary art, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities is finalizing a program of educational and cultural activities such as lectures, guided tours and courses in Canning, with the participation of artists, experts and academics from the region within the initiative '+ Culture'.

"The three projects that opened The Canning, its quality, character and participants have a clear international dimension, but we want to be close to all the society to reach all and The Cannery is a place to meet, enjoy education and culture, open and dynamic, "said the Minister of Culture.

Projects

'13 'Isabel Martínez Abascal offers the public an encounter with the work and the figure of 13 artists.

'Sem título' Laura Vinci is a cascade of falling marble dust relentless on the ground;

'Pyramide self-portrait' is an earthen pyramid 50 kilos, equivalent to the weight of the French artist Margaux Bricler;

'Chandelier', of the 'Re-Enactment' Stephanie Saade series, is an old chandelier that does not work, from which hangs a new energy saving lamp;

and 'Dead drawing' Charbel H. Boutros-joseph shows a graphite mine used to draw two sides of an equilateral triangle and closes the cycle itself forming the third side.

Finally, 'Object Structure Matter ... Action!' Juan Luis Toboso, has performed in different contexts crewaciones spatiotemporal David Askevold, Fermín Jiménez Landa, Dalila Gonçalves, Carlos García Paláez, Aline Biassuto, Amilcar Packer, Nuno Ramalho and Peter Fischl & David Weiss, alluding to the different performative possibilities of matter or action as a means of exploitation of certain abstract ideas.

All works are intended to create subjective narratives, situations and contexts that alter the traditional relationship between artist, work and viewer.

In addition, the Commissioner proposes to show the viewer the active role of the artist in exploring the land and materials.

The projects that make up the supply of the Canning will begin on Thursday and can be visited until January 18, Tuesday to Friday from 16:00 to 20:00;

Saturday from 11:00 to 20:00;

and Sundays and holidays from 11:00 to 14:00.
