Ceutí hit the streets to celebrate ten years of twinning with French town of Saint-Berthevin (02/11/2010)

Hundreds of ceutienses accompanied all French and Spanish families who celebrated ten years of twinning.

Through food, culture and heritage, residents of Ceuta and Saint Berthevin enjoyed a full weekend.

The official ceremony held on the morning of Sunday at the Auditorio de Ceuta, was attended by numerous authorities as the Government Representative, Rafael González Tovar, the Director General of Local Government, Institutional Relations and External Action, the president of the Confederation Segura River Basin Authority, Senators Manuel Hurtado and Francisco Abellán and several regional deputies and the rest of the municipal corporation.

During his speech Manuel Gonzalez, mayor of Ceuta, expressed the support of the municipal institution in this twinning projects to further promote cultural, sporting and educational ties between the residents of Ceuta.

Also wanted to recognize the function performed in 1998 by the then mayor of Saint Berthevin, Michel Sorin and Ceuta, Manuel Hurtado "who believed firmly in the Europe of people and supported their respective Committees for the materialization of the twinning between their peoples, Saint Berthevin and Ceuta. "

The evening concluded with the exchange of gifts from the different municipalities and with the reading of the letters that was initialed in that year, as well as a commitment to creating a network that brings together Towns of European cities.

Thus, the French delegation was joined by the city of Vinge in Germany, England and Saint Minh Patrick in Northern Ireland.

From Seville, Murcia and laughter jacks, members of the popular college Ceutí neighbors wanted to show the more traditional French culture and rooted in our country and especially in our region.

In a cultural evening, hundreds of people passed through the Cultural Center to share a day Ceutí intercultural.

Through the creation of a giant puzzle, captured the experiences of families during these ten years and reflect the things that unite and differentiates the two cities.

The celebration of the tenth anniversary ended with a dinner by themselves ceutienses, where you could taste the diverse cuisine of our region.
