The Segura basin (CHS) has invested 814,000 euros in the construction of a pipeline which will directly benefit the irrigators of Ceuta and Archena.
The work, driving about six miles from the Sewage Treatment Station (STP) of Ceuta and irrigation pond irrigators in this municipality, as to exploit the surplus of this facility and reuse for agricultural purposes.
The aim is to provide a cubic hectometres irrigation water to the one inherited from Ceuta.
The driving part of the treatment plant via a pumping station and runs through the industrial area of Los Torrao up to the irrigation pond, located in the industrial area where the tube connects the reservoir filling.
Currently the treatment plant also draws Archena to irrigators, with an annual grant of a cubic hectometres.
The CHS provides a step in the reuse of scarce water resources in the Segura basin, thereby advancing the integrated use of treated water for agriculture and providing surpluses that do not involve an increase in water consumption.
