The so-called "City of Gerontology" of Ceuta is backed by a group of domestic and foreign private investors willing to invest between 300 and 400 million euros to implement this plan to the elderly, who comprise between 2,000 and 2,500 small apartments, a hotel and nursing homes.

The idea of ​​this project is that residents purchase their housing at cost price so they can maintain their independence while at the same time they provide some basic care.

The resort will directly employ about 2,000 people from cleaning staff to building maintenance, to security, medical services and caregivers, among others.

It will occupy about 400,000 square meters located on the road to Mula, near the hermitage of San Roque and the sports complex Miguel Indurain.

The professional training will also form part of the activity of the city, because there will build a college for training in gerontology will offer undergraduate and graduate degrees at the races needed to staff working at the resort.
