Education invests more than 4.5 million in upgrading and renovation of public schools in Ceuta (19/02/2015)

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities has invested 4,525,877 euros in works of improvement, expansion or construction of educational facilities in Ceuta over the past four years and has given the town a network of quality schools to meet the needs population.

The general director of Educational Centers, María Dolores Valcárcel, and the local mayor, Juan Felipe Cano, this morning visited the College of Education and Primary San Roque, one of the centers that have been carried out improvements to this course.

"One of the concerns of the Ministry of Education is to improve educational facilities for school in the region to receive a quality education in the best possible conditions," said Maria Dolores Valcárcel.

Work on the CEIP San Roque have included the refurbishment of the sewerage and infant toilets and patio and changing the doors and windows of downtown, a work that allows greater energy efficiency, reduce energy bills electrical and achieve a more sustainable school.

Other works undertaken in recent years have been the expansion of CEIP Juan Ayala, where they have built two large rooms and three classrooms for a total amount of 237,178 euros;

the expansion of four units in the Secondary School Felipe de Borbón, work which has invested 322,813 euros, the installation of an elevator in the same center, with an investment of 40,148 euros or building a new school, CEIP Los Torraos, work to which 3,303,146 euros were allocated.

During the visit, the Director General of Educational Institutions highlighted the "involvement of the municipal corporation and the principals and teachers of schools in the bilingual program of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities teams."

"Both the school San Roque, where the bilingual program is implemented for four years, as the institute Felipe de Borbón, where he taught from 2001, are two examples of commitment to the region with language training within the '+ Educational Quality + School Success' strategy as a way to better prepare students to have more and better opportunities throughout their academic and professional career, "said Maria Dolores Valcárcel.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities allocated this year a total of 20,000 euros to scholarships of textbooks and school supplies that have benefited a total of 162 families of Ceuta.
