The Canning welcomes three new exhibitions with works by thirty national and international artists (17/03/2015)

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities organized at the Centre for Contemporary Art The Canning three new exhibitions that can be visited until June 30 and comprising the second cycle of open curated.

There are three group exhibitions where the public can see creations from different disciplines and formats signed by more than thirty national and international artists.

Projects

'Other stories (the awakening of history and the end of storytelling)' is the name of the first exhibition, under which the Commissioner Fernando Castro Flórez has collected the works of fifteen Spanish artists and Chileans who see their creations in context two essential texts: 'The End of History', the political scientist Francis Fukuyama, and testing 'Storytelling' by Christian Salmon.

The selected artists tell stories in the interspace between the historical narrative and entertainment culture, and they do through paintings, drawings, installations, videos or photographs that portray very different political and social contexts, but with many points in common.

Commissioner Ana Ara selected, meanwhile, works of a dozen national and international under the title 'The docile bodies' creators.

This is an exhibition that examines the essence of contemporary society through four thematic sections (the soldier, the student, the prisoner and the worker).

The exhibition features artists as shapers of heterogeneity, as professionals from the 'rebellion' and through his works, trying to overcome the discipline imposed.

'Clandestine Happiness' is the latest exhibition of this new series, created by Eduardo García Nieto works by six artists.

The show revolves around the emotional learning that build male emotion in the transition from childhood to adolescence, and part of an account of the Brazilian writer Clarice Linspector is 'written' in vinyl letters on the floor of Space 4 and which can be read from the top floor.

In this exhibition, the public will encounter creations six male artists whose work reflects the feminist heritage.

This exhibition seeks to normalize intergenerational and international dialogues bringing together pieces made between 1972 and 2015, among which the Castilian version of Wojnarowicz's work 'Untitled (Onedaythiskid ...)'.

Marta Lopez-Briones said that "these three new projects are committed to quality and to combine the international projection of a space like The Canning with the proximity to the public in the region, you will find in Ceuta through an open space from which to approach the Best Contemporary Art ".

The exhibition was inaugurated The Canning morning and can be visited until June 30, Tuesday through Friday from 16:00 to 20:00, Saturdays from 11:00 to 20:00 hours and on Sundays and holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 hours.
